Pablo Sanchez wins the 2025 Princess of Girona Social Award

Pablo Sánchez Bergasa, an engineer from Navarre and founder of Medical Open World., has been awarded the 2025 Princess of Girona Social Award for his project in3ator, a low-cost neonatal incubator designed for hospitals with limited resources.

In a deeply moving ceremony, presided over by H.M. King Felipe VI during the Talent Tour in L’Hospitalet, the jury highlighted Pablo’s “passion, dedication, and deep social commitment.” His embrace of open-source principles and generosity in sharing knowledge demonstrate that innovation can truly serve humanity.

“A young person is worth everything they can dream of… I encourage you to dream big,” said Pablo upon receiving the award, which also honors his parents and the team of volunteers who have made the project possible.

What is in3ator?

It is a low-cost neonatal incubator designed for hospitals in vulnerable settings. To date, it has saved the lives of hundreds of newborns in more than 30 countries, with over 30,000 hours of usage accumulated.

Its production involves educational centers in Spain, engaging students in high-impact projects and fostering community commitment.

Inspiration for young people — and for everyone

The award not only celebrates Pablo’s technical success but also his ability to inspire: through his story, he encourages young people to find purpose and dare to dream big. The jury, chaired by experts such as Elisa Durán and Ousman Umar, emphasized the consistency of his path and his real-world impact.

Pablo Sánchez reminds us that engineering can change the world when it is driven by vocation and heart. May his story inspire the Medicina Abierta al Mundo community to keep dreaming big, developing real, open solutions that save lives.
